Correlating the Sky View Factor with the Pedestrian Thermal Environment in a Hot Arid University Campus Plaza

In hot, arid regions on university campuses, students are more vulnerable to heat stresses than in street canyons terms of function; however, the knowledge impact built environments thermal performance is still lacking. two summer and winter days, shading effect existing urban trees pattern a campus Egypt was examined correlate their Sky View Factor (SVF) with environment, meteorology, Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET), Universal Thermal Comfort Index (UTCI). Meteorological field measurements validated simulation measured Leaf Area (LAI) native in-situ canopies foliage. summer, results showed significant direct mean radiant temperature (Tmrt), PET, UTCI; excessive materials low albedo wind speed could lead slight increase air temperature. Meanwhile, winter, did not affect microclimatic variables, or UTCI. resulting insight into correlation between Tmrt emphasizes importance modifying microclimates already-existing plazas.
